Weekend with Courtney Part 2

Sunday morning Courtney and I woke up and headed to church. The van load of people was supposed to show up sometime right before church started. I could hardly contain my excitement. We ended up taking Rosie, on of the Blessing House children, with us to church. Right after we got sat down and the first song had been sung, Dawn's daughter came and told Courtney she was needed outside. Shocked is the only word to use in describing the look on Court's face. In fact, I am quite certain there were even a few tears.

The whole group (excluding Courtney's Family)

Courtney took ASL (American Sign Language) when she was at Sinclair Community College. She has put it to good use serving at the home. Some of the children are legally deaf so it has been a blessing to know. Dawn, right side in above photo, does not know ASL but was pretending to use it.

Waiting for a car seat to carry inside.

The home had been in great need of car seats and bottle liners. So the text message Carrie sent out also asked for donations to help purchase these things. The response was amazing! We were able to take down 14 car seats and around 2500 bottle liners. God is good!

Some of the seats.

It takes lots of soap, toothpaste, and lotion in the Angel House

Plus many toothbrushes

A dear sister/friend! <3

Courtney gave and excellent tour of the Home for everyone. While we were in the Blessing House James, pictured below, decided to lock Courtney and one of the other VS girls into a room. His facial expressions were quite humorous, and he had all of us laughing.

Please keep Courtney in your prayers. Working with special need people can be a difficult task. I was just down there again this weekend (post coming soon). Also pray for Miss Carrie Boone. She is leaving on april 13th to serve. They are living out what God has called us to do in taking care of the least among us!

Weekend with Courtney Part 1

A few weeks back I received a text message, from Carrie Boone, asking if I would like to go with a group to surprise Courtney. Courtney is serving down in Liberty Kentucky at the Galilean Children's Home. http://www.galileanhome.org/ She was getting to the point that she really needed to see some people. I said I would love to go. However, Courtney decided that she was going to come home that weekend because she really needed to see her friends. We knew we had to do something to keep her in town so the big group would be a surprise. Milo, Carrie, and I ended up meeting her in Lexington Friday evening so she would not head home. Many funny memories were made, and I got addicted to playing hearts! :)

I told Courtney I was going to stay with her for the weekend. She thought I was going to take the Greyhound bus home. The whole thing stressed her out a bit, & I felt really bad. The real story was that I was going home with the group that came down to see her.

It was so fun spending time with Court. I loved being able to see where she works and what she does. The weekend was filled with good chats and many photographs!

Blog Day 2

I think I have everything fingered out for my blog. For now it feels very "Bree". At some point its going to get all changed up and be all different, I'm sure. :) I guess thats part of the fun of blogs!

Today was a fun and different day. It was spent going to class, and then coming home and sand blasting in a little boxy thing. (Pictures may come later)  I found the job to be very relaxing and enjoyable. After lunch I ran to Cedarville and picked up some parts for Dad. My dear mom evan came with me. We had fun!

There is a junk yard in Cedarville: where Mom and I went. We were getting used wheals for a truck Dad is working on. Before I left Dad made sure I knew how to use a ratchet strap, so I could strap the wheals down. I was sure I had it down...I think the Bible says something about pride going before a fall?!?! Ok so the guys at the junk yard had loaded the truck; the wheals were paid for...now I just had to strap everything down and we would be ready to go. Sounds super easy right? Or Not... I was trying to get everything tighten up and ready to go. I had to keep reassuring Mom that I knew what I was doing... I finally had to admit to Mom that I really had NO clue what I was doing. I ended up making a HUGE mess of the strap and the ratchet. I scratched the idea of figuring out what I had done wrong and I grabbed a new strap and ratchet. The new system worked like a charm. This all gave Mom and I laughs!

Mom, thanks for coming with me today. I know you had other plans for your afternoon. Love you

Blog

Wow its been almost a year since I blogged! I was hanging out with some dear friends over the weekend and they started getting on me about my lack of blogging. So here I am!! :) I am having some problems getting everything working correctly...I think its because I have not worked with Blogger for so long!! If you have any tips for me please let me know!!! I am going to try and do better about keeping up on posts!

Today I was reading Daniel 4. One of the things that stood out to me most was where King Nebuchadnezzar says, "How great are His signs, how mighty His wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and His dominion endures from generation to generation." It was so encouraging to remember that God's dominion is never going to end. Being in school has reminded me how many people are lost and need Jesus. I need to do my part to share His love with them. However, no matter what God's kingdom will be around FOREVER!!! Praise His name!!!
